When Adam F made the original version of "Dirty Harry", it was meant to be a completely old-school type of music and to sound as a nine minute piece of rare-groove music, just like Bob James, Quincy Jones and Lalo Schifrin used to do on their music. According to Adam F himself, the result was highly impressive, though it simply "wouldn't fit for the album" as it had a widely distinct perspective from Drum n' Bass or Electronic Music in general. It was in fact a blend of instruments, synthesizer lines and real percussion. That line of hot Jazz-Funk elements came from equipments he acquired such as a Fender Rhodes 73 and a Clavinet with a Wah Wah pedal such as the ones used by those Masters of composition during the seventies. "That's what makes me sad - People thinking that I've sampled those sounds", said Adam F. "In fact, I got those original equipements and composed the sounds by myself". Adam F gave Peshay the original version of "Dirty Harry" in order to create the remix that came out on this single. Peshay used some of the sounds generated by the seventies equipments of Adam F on his tunes (on "Switch", a track of 'Miles From Home' LP, Peshay got a sample of the same ouverture Adam used on "Intro" from his 'Colors' LP). Don't miss the chance to hear the original version of "Dirty Harry" if you can. It's a hidden treasure, I never saw it on vinyl, but it made a so huge impact that the natural result was many remixes of it from several of the Drum n' Bass icons.
Found a reference here. https://medium.com/12edit/adam-f-colours-story-behind-album-dc31e64c97e0 . Adam F, man, please release this. Curiosity kills me.
This has always been intriguing. The only reference to that original version of dirty harry is here: not anywhere in the internet, drum n bass forums, anywhere, does anyone know about that original version. Does it really exist?
