Not gonna lie, I was dubious about this E.P. (not being a huge fan of their last 3 albums), but hot damn is that an amazing intro! I got chills!!!! The remix of NYD is pretty fun too. I love hearing different interpretations of the band's work (especially in a flashback form such as this) and it's a relief to hear it not be a mindless EDM mix with no passion put in. I've not heard the final track in it's original form before, but this remix has a 'War of the Worlds' feel to it, so I don't hate it. In summation, I've seen a lot worse things released by the band and by RSD, so this EP should be a gem for any U2 collector... One question though, did it come with a download code, or will these 3 tracks only be exclusive to the vinyl format? If it's a latter then that's a real shame as I personally feel they deserve to be in a more versatile state.
What's the initial retail price of this in the US?
$22.99 list price, actual prices varied from $20 - $30.
$22.00 U.S. here in Metro Phoenix . Sounds Great !
Well it looks good, shame there isn't more Zooropa related material.
I payed 18 euro. Your vision was exactely my thought. The same speech is also used by Coldplay during their latest tour. Same thoughts about that. U2, please pay all the taxes and please stop nagging about ...
Check out this omage to the dictators of Europe. I guess U2 is scared that perhaps now thy have to pay tax in the country the live in and not in THE NETHERLANDS! Overpriced Record Store Day garbage. 4 tracks, not even new ones, for 10 EURO per track?!! Record Store Day seems to me an other way of labels to screw some more money out of fans. Fans aren't rewarded for their (years) of loyalty and buying original records. No, labels need all your money, a little on a continuous basis isn't enough.
U2 RSD releases have historically been cheap as in content; astronomically high in price!! Always one or two songs, old remixes and over-priced. I don't know why they won't schedule a release that is content worthy - I think it's the old adage of they don't have to...the rabid hipster U2 fans will buy anything - and that is truly sad. "If it ain't broke - don't fix it" mentality of a sure thing. Unfortunately it is broke.
Firstly, it's not 40 Euros, it was less than 20. Secondly, it's not an "omage" to the dictators of Europe. The guy on the front is Charlie Chaplin and the opening monologue is his speech at the end of the Great Dictator. Look it up! As for your diatribe about RSD there are a lot of people who really look forward to it. I went this morning and met some great people and bought some great records.
I paid 17,90 for my copy. That's more like 4,50 per track.
Looks like a Zooropa release but nothing to do with the old great days...less in vinyl...
Was thinking the exact same thing. Great cover art on this one - had such promise. What a let down. I love the 10" format and style. Could've been one or a dbl set with outtakes, new Mixes etc. Include a poster, postcards, laminate backstage pass, anything - c'mon guys. Do that on 'Zooropa' and 'Pop' - the fans would love it.
Nice RSD 2019 Release by Paul, Dave, Larry and Adam. Hope to be able to buy this on Saturday!
