Disappointed this isn't triple gatefold. Not buying almost for that reason alone.

I'm surprised that no one has commented on the muddy mix on Deliverance, yet. I finally took the chance on it today, and I'm pretty disappointed in it. Bruce totally took the personality out of Deliverance, and it just sounds like a bassy mess. Damnation is a slight difference, but definitely the best mix/master I've heard, and is the only reason I'm keeping it. The drums have more warmth to them, which really makes it enjoyable.

I've played both the vinyl on an actual system, and streamed it on an average stereo, and both versions of Deliverance sound muddy and don't feel like the original sound, at all. If you like it, that's cool. Damnation is very close, but the drums are more warm and have overall more body, especially in the toms, which is a signature thing when SW does a remaster. He's done the same to some Gentle Giant, King Crimson, and Jethro Tull albums that I have, while also staying true to the original master. I always loved Damnation, but the drums were always really dry and harsh, and didn't mix with the melodic nature of the album. They're still a tad distracting, but flow with the rest of the instrumentation much better.

Not sure if you're just talking about the vinyl version(s) because I've not heard those. But the CD versions, this certainly isn't the case. On the CD, Deliverance sounds more "trippy", the difference is clear on this. Not necessarily better but certainly not worse. It's more "atmospheric". Damnation on the other hand is just... the same. Not noticeable difference there. I'm really interested to hear the vinyl versions!

Sound quality is superb! I'm not worried about the tight fit on the inner sleeves. I keep all my vinyl in paper inner sleeves I got on Amazon. That keeps the original inners mint.

Being in the same jacket is fine, I expect triple gatefold would make the price considerably more, so in that respect I'm happy. But printed, glossy inner sleeves on what might as well be tissue paper is really poor and already have split in the usual places. I'd much prefer standard white inner jackets and a separate printed lyric/info sheet. Sounds great though.

Yes. Packaging was disappointing. The sound is great however.

hm...no triple gatefold....3 LP's in a single LP jacket??....must have some ring wear, ready...
INvait
The jacket is wider/thicker than a normal single LP jacket. But yeah, packaging on this one isn't great. Sound quality is though.
