Notes

This High Fidelity Stereophonic Recording was produced featuring the Frey Stereophonic Curtain of Sound technique.
When heard on a balanced playback system, the elements or musicians on the recording will be reproduced in the exact locations, directionally, as at the original performance. This original, positive technique to produce a pure, true stereophonic effect so that the instruments or elements
of the recording are perfectly relocated as to direction of sound is an Audio Fidelity developnlent and is true stereophonic reproduction.
This recording was made in London on an Ampex 300-2 using Telefunken stereophonic microphones. The masters were cut with an automatic Scully Record Lathe mounting a Westrex 45-45 cutter with special feedback electronic circuitry driven by custom built 200 watt amplifiers.
Precision mastering was done so as to achieve maximum stylus velocity consistent with minimum distortion, resulting in the ultimate in channel separation and realizing the greatest possible signal-to-noise ratio.
While the total frequency range of 16 cps to 25,000 cps on this record may not be within the range of ordinary human hearing, nevertheless inspection of the grooves with a microscope will show the etchings of the upper dynamic frequencies . It is the opinion of the manufacturer that if these frequencies were omitted from this record a certain warmth of tone that is felt and sensed rather than heard would be lost. For this reason and to achieve the ultimate in our studies in HIGH FIDELITY STEREOPHONIC Sound" we have gone to these extreme electronic lengths.
Because of the very wide dynamic and frequency range and the extremely high level of sound on the Audio Fidelity First Component Stereo Series the user is advised that only the very highest quality cartridges and arms are capable of properly tracking this record.

ARTHUR WINOGRAD began his musical studies at the New England Conservatory, and continued at the Curtis Institute. He was a founder member of the Juilliard String Quartet and while there conducted a series of concerts of the works of Berg, Webern and Schoenberg which were then taken on national tour. The success of this tour established Winograd as a young conductor of exceptional promise.
For some years his conducting has been divided between string orchestra ensembles and full symphonic groups. His work has invariably received the highest critical approbation.

The New Audio Fidelity Label
The strobe pattern on the record label when viewed under a 60 cycle neon or fluorescent light source should remain in
position if the turntable speed is correct. If there is a marked "walking" of the stroboscopic pattern the turntable is off speed.

The Cover Painting : Percussion" by R. Lersy is one of a series of paintings expressly commissioned for the First Component Series Albums.
