the series distributed in 2017 sounds quite bad, even with forgiving carts the high frequency drop outs and high noisefloor are quite disturbing, a classic 2 tracker that will sit unplayed because of poor audio quality, pity.

i compare it to the 2004 pressing, which wasnt perfect either, but i blamed the vg+ disc, now i start believing that it 's the source-tape's condition - sounds like underbiased type II cassette - all fine in the low and mids, but the treble sounds dry/harsh/gritty.. and suffers from occasional dropouts.. "acceptable" on big systems, but with hi-res headphones it's becomes more apparent and thus annoying.

I didn't notice any particular bad audio quality on this release, but I'll take a closer listen! Have you compared to the 2004 issue, or the '91 club mix?
