There is a published article (Rain Taxi, Winter 2000/2001) citing letters that show Bowles made these recordings (not Gysin). Only time will tell when and if they will ever get re-issued and properly attributed to Paul Bowles.

On page 38 of the recently published William Burroughs Letters Volume 2 - Burroughs writes in 1960 to Paul Bowles saying how "The Pool brought the potentials of sound to his [Gysin's] and certainly to my attention." The implication is pretty clear that the Pool is a Bowles recording.
