Munimand
Somewhere between 1968 and 1972 changed the from New Orleans session musician Mac Rebennack his name to Dr. John, The Nite Tripper. This colorful character created his own whimsical music universe with ingredients from the traditional rhythm & blues, funk, Creole roots music, psychedelic rock and voodoo rituals. After the albums Gris-Gris, Babylon, Remedies, and The Sun, Moon & Herbs, he took leave of the voodoo part properly and he on more popular music, such as funk, jazz and traditional music from New Orleans. A small forty years later took The Black Keys guitarist Dan Auerbach-contact him to put together a genuine voodoo album. The voodoo by now, however, is a lot less recessed in the swamps of Louisiana than back then and is also significantly less influenced by psychedelia and related stimulants. Somewhere that is a missed opportunity, but on the other hand, delivers one of the best albums by the doctor on. With Locked Down dare he finally the traditional music in which he moved, in recent decades to let go, to let hear you never old enough to start something new.
