Video

Rivik
Galdston & Thom are by no means the only duo to have recorded a single terrific album – Denne & Gold, Byrne & Barnes LeBlanc & Carr and David & David are just four excellent examples that come to mind – but “American Gypsies” deserves particular notice, rising far above the pop-rock milieu. Neither is this the first time that great music has hidden behind an unprepossessing cover.
Beyond quality song-writing and excellence of performance, this album scores highly for variety, intricacy and innovation. First released in 1977 – and, as so often, brought to CD courtesy of the Japanese music industry (2010) – the musical enjoyment on offer here goes far beyond “Savanna Sunny Sunday”, the one track that seems to have received any exposure. This album really is 'a cut above the rest'.
