As a ballet the Tableaux comprise many discrete subsections (now itemized as requested) which proceed without an non-scored break or pause of any kind. Silences and abrupt changes of mood mark different "movements" but all are recorded as one continuous track.

This composition continues to be considered as one of the uber-masterpieces of the 20th-century. I would argue that it is THE greatest. It remains fresh through a hundred hearings, and different performances offer a feast of possibilities.
