This is one of the best albums of the last few years. There's a lot of people trying to make new soul music and some of it sounds very contrived, this just sounds natural, effortless and fresh. A great balance of future and classic sounds and those vocals are just incredible.
Looks like the A & B sides of the bonus 7" (listed as C & D) are "Imposter"(sp) & "Wake" respectively, both of which were released on Childqueen Outtakes. Can't say for sure, but the 7" versions seem a little bit different & less polished.
Steel balls
Anyone have any idea if the two bonus tracks from the 7" have titles? Such a remarkable record, I absolutely love everything Kadjha Bonet does. She has a singular style & presence.
That's another solid record from Kadhja Bonet. Great modern production, far from r&b cliché without soul. Hope the live band has some miles behind them now and will present a real good live act.
I have the 'flume' coloured vinyl, supposedly, but to me it looks more like pink marble. It's pretty crackly throughout. Anyone else noticed this?
generation of new
I also bought from a very reputable store I use monthly and can't imagine them selling fakes. I returned it, got the black vinyl instead, but that was also crackly, so returned it and got a digital version. The production quality is outstanding, sadly let down by shoddy pressing.
YES i just bought this vinyl at a reputable record store and i have the same problem-- its solid baby pink (cute, but not what was advertised), its crackly throughout, and its missing the free download card. Contemplating returning it and finding it elsewhere. This may be a fake but idk??
I am pretty sure there are copies left through her website for $21. In fact the website says there are 53 copies left. Not sure how updated it is but definitely try there first before paying whats listed here for double.
Right on I am glad you were able to get a copy. Looks like they are officially sold out now with the 7 inch. Just pissed me off people pre order just to jack up the price. They add no value to the world whatsoever. I understand someone who digs through basements and garage sales and pulls out lost gems and flips them but this exclusive RSD and trying to buy new issues because they are low quantity and this color and that just to flip is outrageous. These albums should be purchased to listen to by true fans. Vinyl is starting to get pretty ridiculous. I mean why are there 4 different colors of this press. It is starting to remind me of baseball cards in the 90s. I have seen Kadhja's comments bummed on being on a label and maybe this is the reason. Does Fat Possum even care about the music or they just trying to make as much money as possible because they are fueling the problem. We just live in a different time. Sorry about the rant. I feel better now.
They were sold out at a certain point and then I think stocked the remainder of 1,000 at some point. As a result, many people were under the impression that you couldn't get this album through bandcamp anymore but there's still plenty left.
