A highly underated west coast gangster classic. Still lesser known and mentioned by hip hop fanatics of wesr coast rap. Perhaps because the lyrics and rough edge of Kam was too harsh and in your face for much mainstream attention...
Lyrics are brutal and honest and politically charged. Tracks like Peace Treaty, Watts Riot and I Still Got Love For Um tell street life how it was for a real and unsensationalized perspective. Tracks like Holiday Madness, Stereotype, Hang em High and Aint That a Bitch are direct messages towards the obsurtity of the media and hollywood. Neva Again is the overall strong message again. And this speaks to how africans were enslaved, taken away from their homelands and subjected to racism and classlessness here in America. Thats what I got from this album. A strong album and particularly funky album. Its very of the time but even though its a very political album its still a very catchy album. And 28 years later I still can lip sync many of the catchy lyrics like in Holiday Madness and Stereotype. I could argue this is better Predator by Cube at the time. On par with Death Certificate and Kill at Will.
