When I discovered Kartagon, I couldn’t stop listening to their songs on their Bandcamp page. Finally, I decided to buy this album. I am really impressed by the mixture of hard and soft synthesizer sounds, Johannes Barth’s beautiful and emotional voice and the use of acoustic drum elements. The album was produced by Daniel Myer and he of course put a lot of his style into it, but you can also hear Kartagon’s own style.
While the remixes on the bonus disc aren’t that good, each song on the main album can be seen as an highlight. The lyrics are desperate and full of suffering, containing some ironic parts too.
All in all, “In the Clinic” is a first-class masterpiece of dark alternative electronic music that can be compared with well-known and long-established acts.
