Los Grillos - Vibraciones Latinoamericanas Mp3

Surprisingly good prog from Los Grillos, a band from Bolivia, not exactly a prog haven. The production quality isn't that great, nor the sound quality (probably because in Bolivia, getting top-of-the-line recording equipment and vinyl pressers were probably a bit more difficult to get a hold of than in the United States or western Europe, so they had to make do). At under 25 minutes, Vibraciones Latinoamericanos was pressed on 10", rather than 12". If you enjoyed Los Jaivas' Alturas de Macchu Picchu, you'll find out they weren't the only one combining Andean folk with prog, as Los Grillos does here. This album has a more rock feel to it than Los Jaivas, plus they include some nice spacy synths to go with it. Vocals are in Spanish (would have been nice if they included some vocals in Quechua or Aymara). Also I can say, had Jethro Tull been Andean, they'd probably end up like this, as you'll find some Ian Anderson-like flutes, along with panpipes. For all the amount of great prog I've found from South America, like Terreno Baldio from Brazil or Alas, Cruicis, and Espiritu (amongst others) from Argentina, it's nice to found more great prog from that continent, even from obscure corners like Bolivia, Sadly this has never been reissued, so you'll have to find the original 10", which isn't easy to find.
