I love that most of these desperate sellers who were initially trying to make money from this sought after release have fell on their arse coz they released the gatefold.. It's now on offer at red eye records for 12.99£
Little Devil
Aww, condolences to the lazy sellers constantly trying to list the *gatefold edition* for sale in the Marketplace of the *box set*, and getting their listings ended. Stop relying on the community and make a new listing for the gatefold yourself; don't you want to sell it? :)
can't believe that "introduction" isn't on the vinyl release . . . that track is gorgeous
I completely agree. The whole "digital exclusive" thing really annoys me.
Yes absolutely, that sucks... and to think that compared to the CD buyers we already pay easily triple the price (if you count the separate 12 inch with Calle F/Cuba electronic) and still miss a track...
I second that, it's a damn shame!
Can't believe people are selling this for practically double the price already. The complete opposite of what Mala is about.
Retail price is 30 quid in the UK, bit more than usual but not outrageously expensive. It's not even sold out already or anything. Had they pressed 2,000 they might have ended up sitting on a couple hundred copies. Way too many people get sucked in on the hype with limited releases in general. It's much worse in Metal where every other album these days is released on five different colors, limited to 100 each.
Has Mala ever advocated for vinyl records has to cheaper and unlimited? I think I missed that part... Mala have denied repressing the DMZ catalogue many times due to music having a time and place. So a sold out limited record going for big bucks is EXACTLY what Mala & Gilles could have expected... it's not like it's the first time this has happened recently (hint, hint - Eyez VIP).
1000 copies is a fairly large press for an album in this genre
Yeah why sell it as limited version only, with shiny artwork and boxset and 180g audiophile vinyl. I mean this all makes it better of course, but this is what pumps up the price as well. It was expected. Just to think of the price in 10 years, hundreds of pounds for sure.To think of it, why is it limited edition? I think that in the long run it would've been cheaper to press more than thousand vinyl. It seems that they wanted it to be rare and all that - a rare as hell and expensive album that everybody would die for to get it...and looks like they succeeded, but this album does not become one (rare)naturally, but rather artificially. selling a limited edition (and i stress the word limited) shiny box set album from a well known producer that every dubstephead loves just does that perfecly. it's all cool, but Mala the die hard vinyl warrior should've made this unlimited, but then again it would've perhaps been that appealing to some. Marketing aspect too- sometimes people will just buy it for the limited tag no matter how expensive and not for the record itself.
