This has been blaring through my headphones and car stereo ever since I grabbed a copy last Chrimbo. What a storming collection of oldskool classics and not a 'Bombscare' or 'Don't Go' in sight either. Sublogic Recordings and Nicky Blackmarket have delved into the more obscure releases for this mix and unearthed some absolute belters from between 1991-1994 that have never seen the light of a CD release before.

Starting off with Noise Factory's Stevie Nicks sampling 'The Fire', 'From The Vaults Vol. 1' pleases the ear with plenty off top tunes and different styles of early nineties hardcore. From uplifting breakbeat tracks from the likes of 2-X-Treme and Ellis Dee & Swan-E to the darkest and nastiest of sounds from Two Dark Troopers and Trip. The revelation for me on this release was Cru-L-T's amazing Tears For Fears, 'Mad World' sampling 'Nowhere'.

Nicky Blackmarket has often been criticised for his mixing skills, but he does a great job on here giving each track plenty of opportunity to shine, without ever outstaying it's welcome and keeping the music flowing steadily. A definite 5/5 for me on this one!

Oh my gosh, doesn't this mix bring back some memories? Nicky's not the tightest of DJs, but he certainly knows a good tune and some of his selections on here are absolutely mint - Cold Acid is an absolute monster, init? Being critical, the mix looses its way after Junk04, only regaining some creditability with the final track. Can't wait for Volume 2 - hows about dragging Ratty and Tango in B2B for it? Oi Oi!
