Dangerous

This is a weird part of the OImec Heads catalogue. After the massive success of Spiritualised (a huge anthem even to this day), the guys released the dark & evil Magic Man.

Magic Man was nowhere near as successful as Spiritualised, but it did hint at an interesting creative turn for the act (incorporating intense acid and a very moody vibe). Along with very driving, aggressive remixes of The Space Brothers' "Heaven Will Come" and John 00 Fleming's "Alpha 5", it was clear that The Olmec Heads were on a creative peak.

So that's why it's quite bizarre that their next release was this, "Promises". While it still clearly retains the Olmec Head spirit, it's much lighter in tone. In fact, it's not far off Kevin & Perry style "EBEEFA" territory.

Ironically, I think I could give it more respect if it had been released under Andy's Pulser guise. But as an Olmec Heads release, it's among their weakest.
