Supraphon Release Information

Olympic’s fourth album and the fourth instalment in the exquisite reedition of albums of the peerless Czech rock band! The “Korn” period might have been less “big-beat”, yet it was also noteworthy for the forcible melodies and characteristic solo vocals of the band’s reinforcements, Jiří Korn and Petr Hejduk.

The original nine-track album, made up of sophisticated songs clocking in at up to five minutes (Karneval, Únos, Harém, Kánon), is supplemented with 13 bonuses. These include such popular hits as Agáta, Lola, Planetář and Co tě napadá, as well as minor experiments.

Around 1973, Janda’s Olympic were going through changes. Korn’s footprint was strong enough to enchant listeners, yet perhaps too strong for the band to function well for an extended period with two such distinctive artists. Prior to the onset of the great art-rock projects, this was a phase of simple but overwhelming songs – songs that are still able to enrapture today!

Kalemegdan Disk Additions

“4” was recorded three years after the last album “Jedeme, jedeme” which ended the beat period and four years before the next one, “Marathon” which started the progressive period of the band. It contains straight rock music and 13 songs taken from singles from 1971 and 1972 were added as bonus material. The packing (an extensive booklet combined with a slipcase) is convincing.
