Notes

The track listing is identical to the debut album by "Ahehehinnou Vincent & Orchestre-Poly-Rythmo De Cotonou Dahomey". However, the liner notes explain that the four track LP was recorded twice. The original producer rejected the first recording because of too much background noise, forcing another recording to be done. The test pressing of the rejected first recording was found and two tracks from each recording were chosen, making tracks 1 and 3 reissues of the original album and tracks 2 and 4 first time ever publicly available recordings.

This is simply the best afro beat record rerelease recently. La la La is so much overwhelming. Boah. Maybe Nkengas made something next to this.Or Fela did.Stupenda!

As you can read from the notes, this record is only partly original. The two tracks that are new for this release are great tracks, and it would be interesting to hear the other versions, because unfortunately, these tracks both fade out at around 6 minutes. A bit unsatisfying maybe, because they are very nice tracks. Side A2 is very much danceable with some wicked keyboard playing, and B2 has the singer telling a story with a sunny groove.

The original track on side A doesn't really do it for me, but my oh my, La La La La is the shit! Relentless rhythm section, ample room for solo's and a catchy chorus. Then, walfway trough, things cool down a bit, and then the singer steps in, working towards the finale. Fantastic!
