I was really looking forward to hearing this new release from Ralph & Jack. They have created many classic In Trance We Trust tracks. Ralph gave us Massive in 2001 and Jack defined the sound of ITWT with Persuasion & Purple Haze.Sadly, times change. This new track, Seize The Day, follows the formula that has been Trance's ball & chain since the euphoric sound of '98-'03 faded.More Progressive in every aspect. The bassline is nondescript, the melody is uninspired, the rhythm is slower and follows the usual Progressive angle. The breakdown promises something more exciting, with some of the old Mesh magic bubbling to the surface, but it dissipates into the same old sidechain sound that has become worryingly familiar for a style of dance music that used to be exciting.Do you remember when Trance was thrilling to hear? Those euphoric G&M Project breakdowns, so beautiful. The fact you could buy any Nu NRG track without even hearing it, because you just KNEW it would be amazing. Buying ANYTHING on ITWT.Those days are gone. And so are those people.I sit at home now, I no longer go to clubs. The music sounds like this.It bores me.
Well, I feel your pain very seriously, you just presented my own thoughts. However - there is only one way you can heal this pain: let these tracks grow on you and simply become inspired / moved by other things than G&M Project and older ITWT releases. I am pretty sure, you haven't listened to ITWT starting in the crib. You searched some time to find this most thrilling and most exciting sound. You may start this search again. You may allow other sounds to cause this excitement. This is what I did. After 4 years from release date of this track I finally bought it and I really like it. I found other ways that trance can sound - still close to the past, while being something completely new. And no, I am not into the "EDM" and other whistling and buzzing bullshit.
