Seba & Method One - Dawn Patrol / Eidolon Mp3

Hard to believe it's been 5 years since this duo teamed up with "Heavy Traffic" on Seba's "Secret Operations" imprint, but they're back together with 2 amazing tunes, continuing the impeccable output Klute has been dropping on Commercial Suicide. "Dawn Patrol" kicks right it with a recognizable Seba break and some deep synths, and the build begins with some lush atmospheres as the amen snaps alongside a deep sub bass punching its way through some call-and-response chords. The bass patterning shifts a bit as a filtered voice beckons "understand" and more atmospheres are layered. Amazing track beginning to end, as you can immediately recognize these 2 prolific producers didn't just poop this one out; each sound and each bar is meticulously congealed together. "Dawn Patrol" reminds me a bit of Seba's late 90's GLR/Guidelines EP work and Method One's work on Levitated and even earlier Atlantiq collabs. The B side "Eidolon" booms immediately with some live-sounding reverbed drums, as bass synths slowly invade to craft a much darker compliment to its A-side counterpart. Hints of Paradox and Nucleus's recent B-Boy escapades, with scuttling breaks and classic "HEY" samples tossed in sparingly, and the drum timbre evokes Method One's "Pressure Waves" off the Levitated "Supersonic" album. 5/5, and if you like this release, I highly recommend checking out their other recently released plate on Samurai, SMG010, as well as the later Levitated catalogue and Seba's Guidelines EP off Purified and his Mesmerism EP off Secops.

Holy shit, this is good, especially like Eidolon with its off beats and distorted bass and bass kick - Dawn patrol is an example of top producers doing their thing very competently but heard it a million times before - Eidolon on the other hand is trying something a bit different. All in all, as you intimate, a pretty essential purchase.
