WUNDERKIND
These remixes from Slicker's album CONFIDENCE IN DUBER lean heavily on the IDM side, particularly when Scott Herren and Richard Devine take on the first track into a metallic, lumbering beast, while Super E.S.P. delivers a spare "Been There, Done Dusky" that quietly slides into its warmth. Matmos is similarly sparse in its reimagining "Confidence in Silver," though with a more pronounced hip-hop swing with bursts of noise to remind you who's in charge. Herren brings his Savath + Savalas persona into play with the melodic downtempo of "Replay Slicker," while his Delarosa & Asora persona goes in a more abstract direction with "Dahm Foos." Finally, Mice Parade put in their take with "Confidence in Scoober," a delicate, graceful concoction. A nice diversion, definitely.
Cogelv
This could possibly be the most disappointing release I have come across (not including Aphex Twin's Drukqs but that’s a whole different story). Look at the line up you have all three of Scott Herren's aliases (even the ever elusive Delarosa), all with their extremely different and excellent styles. It also includes two better-known artist Richard Devine and Matmos. But the EP just lacks in everywhere. The Savath & Salavas remix just sounds like a bad mixture of Prefuse 73 and the Savath sound, The Delarosa & Devine track do not mate so well, and the Matmos track is just flat out weak. Sorry to say it but it had to be said.
