DO NOT OVERPAY FOR THIS PRESSING UNLESS YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT COLLECTING ANALOGUE PRODUCTIONS! This release that I'm linking to is also mastered by Kevin Gray from the original tapes and pressed at Quality. Also, it has a glossy tip-on sleeve as well! I'd also assume its the exact same stampers. https://www.discogs.com/Sonny-Rollins-Saxophone-Colossus/release/10655344

For a mono pressing this has a surprisingly wide soundstage, especially the drums on Strode Rode. The drums are as clearly presented as they can be, Sonny's sax has real bite when he wants it. The tonal balance is right on the mark. The instruments are all presented individually quite well without sacrificing any semblance of being part of the group. Very good job on the mastering and the lacquer cutting.

I would love to do a shoot-out with one of these AP pressings and a 1st pressing just to see how close the two are. I suspect this as as good a choice for a go-to pressing as a 1st pressing would be. All in all it's a very enjoyable listen. I had never heard Sonny Rollins' music before and took a blind stab at it. I couldn't have made a better choice. Very good music and equally good sound. Worth opening up your wallet for.

I have two LPs in this series now, and neither of them has the "flat edge". Does anyone else have this experience?
