Mike Serrette delivers a powerful rap performance, which mentions social problems such as dependence on foreign oil, as well as a lack of jobs because of so many imported products. These types of topics were unheard of in early rap and hip-hop records!! The Big Throwdown was WAY ahead of its time!!! Not bad for what was originally just a demo.
This amazing jam was first released by Rissa-Chrissa Records in 1980, then picked up and released by the legendary label, Brunswick Records, in 1981.
