First, we have "Welcome to Essex." This rocker has an edge to it, manifested not only in the acid work and driving tone, but also in the main sample, which concerns a number of police officers being attacked when they "attempted to clear an illegal rave." But even before that, the track has a lot to say. Right before the 1:00 mark, the bassline starts churning, and even then, you just know it's going to keep spinning into a rich acid sugar. Sure enough, the acid fireworks continue to grow and flare before the major breakdown, during which you get the enjoyable, aforementioned sample. The acid line in the breakdown is sharp and electric, and the hats and clap keep your feet stomping while you're waiting for the drop. And then the floor falls out from beneath you, and the track jumps to life again. Cracking tune.

The percussion in "Twisting My Mind" is forceful yet smooth, and the track uses a nice, gradual intro, which makes it very DJ-friendly. After a suspense-filled mini-breakdown, this tune smashes out of the box, and by the time you pass the 3:00 mark, the track is charging along with reckless abandon. Then comes the breakdown, during which you get a great chopped-up rhythm, expressed through that classic sample---"this sound is twisting my mind..." An intense buildup guides you to the drop, which is one of those cool "delayed" breaks. Love it. And if you're familiar with Mills' work, you know what happily awaits you on the other side of the break: more acid dementia.
