The singers of this album are all dedicated Christians who believe in lifting up the name of Jesus any where and any time.They believe as the Prophet David said in The 150th Psalm, "let everything that hath breath praise the Lord."They Sing not for form or fashion but for the glory of God, as though there will be no tomorrow and give all they have to each of their songs.
Four Dedicated young men dissatisfied with singing for God in just three services at their church on Sundays, began singing in other churches also. Thus, these four young men became well known as Baltimore's Gentlemen in Song, The Gospel Leaders in April of 1963.
The Gospel Leaders are a very unique Gospel singing group, as you will hear while listening to them sing. They have a wide range of voices in the group: Thomas Roberts, Tenor-Baritone, Charles Ellis, Tenor-Baritone, Norman Dudley, First tenor, Benjamin Butler and Oscar Minnitt, natural Canto tenors, and at the piano Elder Carey Wright, one of Baltimore/s finest musicians.
The Original Gospel Leaders show their versatility by singing their way through a variety of songs; some with a beat, some slow and melodious, but all of them with that certain feeling that only the Gospel Leaders have for a song. Their versatility is furthered by the fact that each of the singes can sing the lead without the group losing that leader sound.
