Posthumous release of outtakes from the six preceding Trotsky Icepick albums. As it turns out some of their best and most pop/accessible material is collected here. The album sequence is seamlessly constructed and a rare pleasure. This group had zero interest in commercial success with an endless string of random band name changes and no set line-up. Their initial intent was to release a series of albums all with the same title but pick a new band name for each record. Trotsky Icepick's studied pop/alt. rock gives them away as true fans of the genre with a knack for subtle pop hooks and subversive parody. Lest this collection appear too highbrow the track sequence starts off with something decidedly unsophisticated (20 Nights With Godzilla) and ends on a sloppy note, a live version of one of their more post-punk tunes from the Baby album randomly tacked on at the end. The liner notes on Hot Pop Hello read: "Any semblance of a commercially viable product is strictly coincidental and not intended."
