Just A/B'ed this pressing vs the cd on a high-end system, and they sound identical! The pressing is also pretty quiet so as to fit as much music as they did onto each side, but luckily the wax is dead silent! So it is a beautiful pressing, but no noticeable difference in eq or dynamics than the cd. Another note: the spindle holes were VERY tight, which caused the record to "couple" with the turntable & resulted in my subwoofer to swell/feedback at any decent volume (using a sensitive MC cart.) So I opened the spindle holes a touch by spinning a pen in the holes, softly routing them out until they could slide on/off the tt spindle as normal. Problem solved! Now the record is highly crank-able... >:)
I have a couple copies sealed I’d sell or trade maybe
lucky kitten
I would be interested in buying a copy from you
I would be interested in a copy possible trade maybe ?
My copy is purely translucent green, without "a touch of darker color/black marbled into it". It has correct matrix/runout.And I bought it in 2007.
Global Progression
For anyone who has the translucent: As long as the deadwax/matrix runout is handwritten, not typed (and there actually IS a runout on side A) then it's definitely the real deal
my Mint condition copy is also translucent. And it sounds great.
For anyone who has the translucent version: As long as the deadwax/matrix runout is handwritten, not typed (and there actually IS a runout on side A) then it's the real deal. All other translucent ones are the bootleg
Prince Persie
Update: I messaged a cpl dozen folks who own this and a few of them actually have a translucent version, a couple with a touch of darker color/black marbled into it too. But it has the correct/same deadwax runout as this solid green version, handwritten & everything. They all also said they bought it around the release date, over a decade ago thru local shops and thru amazon. So I believe those to be official versions as well. Here is the new listing page for that variant: https://www.discogs.com/Type-O-Negative-Dead-Again/release/14590334Point of the story: absolutely don't buy any copies of this album for silly money unless you confirm it has these correct runouts HAND-WRITTEN into the deadwax (not typed.)Matrix / Runout (Side A): 102758A1FKMatrix / Runout (Side B): 102758B1FKMatrix / Runout (Side C): 102759C1FKMatrix / Runout (Side D): 102759D1FKThe translucent green & black versions that are all over ebay at the moment are all new German or Italian bootlegs. New discogs pages for them are here https://www.discogs.com/Type-O-Negative-Dead-Again/release/14284683 and here https://www.discogs.com/Type-O-Negative-Dead-Again/release/14306910
Any comment on the audio of this pressing? Good n quiet? Noisy? Awesome? Dull?
I personally think it sounds great. My copy is pretty quiet and the records are flat. Really cool green color on them too. Worth picking up if you can get one.
Deserves a reissue. this is an okay album. Hail and Farewell to Britain is one of my all time favorite Type O songs.
