So there I was aged 15 round at my friend's house whilst he baby sat. His other much older friend had lent him two c.d.s. Both had the word acid written on the inlay cover. One was called Acid Jazz so we gave that a listen and after skipping through all the tracks within minutes (yes it was pretty lame) we decided to listen to the next c.d. which was Various ‎– House Hallucinates Pump Up London Volume One.Sleezy D* I've Lost Control (Space Mix) comes blaring out of the speakers and we both looked at each other with a what the fuck is this????!!!!!!Hairs were literally standing up on the back of our necks! 9 minutes and 43 seconds later and we didn't even play the next track as we just had to hear this sound again!I mean we were serious Electro heads but what in the world was this alien sound all about? Why is this guy losing it but loving it at the same time? Those tranced out repetitive beats and claps and that twittery blippy sound was so weird that we were losing it and loving it at the same time.Hairs were still standing up like we had been plugged into the mains! Then next up Phuture - Acid Tracks!Boom boom boom with a sinister wave sound and then some claps and again this blippy sonar pulsing sound hit our ears. Then the blippy sound starts to liquify and then elevates into an incredible movement that twisted and turned inside out of itself. What the actual fuck was we experiencing.Alien sounds that totally intrigued us. We both were nodding our heads like we were hip-hoppers on some next electro type shit!So again we played this track in all of its entirety!Tracks B1 and B2 kind of deflated our feelings but not to worry as tracks B3 through to D3 perked us back up (and with no drugs)! This was my first introduction to Chicago Acid Trax and what a way to get affiliated! A week or so later I bought Acid Trax Volume 2 and I never looked back!Acid acid acid house (repeat!)So fast forwarding to this precise moment. Listening to this LP again today is still totally amazing! This is like an audio acid bible and for anyone who has never heard this type of music I would 1000% recommend this compilation! Stunning! THIS IS ACID!

I agree 110% on all your points mate. Here's to the next twenty years or so :) ;)Peace.

I totally agree matey. We belong to the lucky bastardo's club to be just old enough to experience the explosive 80's through to the 90's. And also that is not to say we are blowing our trumpets (well just a little bit) and coming across arrogant (I have no ego) as though we know everything because how could we have known that these sounds from synth pop to new wave to early rap hip hop to electro to hip-hop with sampled funk beats to Chicago to detroit techno to new beat to European and US techno to acid house to bleeps to hardcore to darkside to jungle to trip-hop to drum n bass to everything in between. This shit literally transformed me from a spotty teenager into adult teenager minus the spots! I could bemoan and say today's stuff is Ummm shit but that wouldn't be fair as there is a lot of common ground happening where the old and the new are mixing it up into more musical styles. Also, you will probably agree when I say I shall be reviewing this House Hallucinates LP in another 20 years! And everything else in between! Peace ;)

Great story mate! I think it's safe to say your words and experience speak for each and every acid fan in that same familiar scenario of hearing all the old and early Chicago acid comps as young teens for the very first time. Such a mind blowing experience that one will never, ever forget.I actually feel sorry for people that have never heard the early Chicago acid trax as they will never experience anything like it. Thankfully, we have :)

Classic album. The first track with Sleazy D features Jabba the Hut on vocals (ha ha ha ha ha)
Bundis
You're not wrong robsep2b. The rumour goes that Jabba The Hut did the vocals for free in return for a rare 1983 Panini foil Star Wars sticker of - you guessed it - Jabba The Hut ! I could never find that one either lol :) ;) :P

Managed to replace my old double cassette tape finally. This album is a trip! Such memories

This is where it all began for me. I bought it on tape in '88 aged 13. I couldn't describe what it sounded like to anyone - it didn't sound like anything I'd ever heard before. When it was my turn to supply the sounds for the school music lesson THIS is what they got. Needless to say a very small minority actually _got_ it...Viva Acid House..!

This double gatefolds release is the best one ! Graham Tunna & Jeremy Pearce made a wonderfull psychedelic design cover sleeve. When u open it u can also see a big " ACID". They also added inside the covers, if u take time to look , a serie of printed green pills & E's. These attentions & details are only on the UK release. Not on the similar U.S.A. edition. I can also mention there was many releases of this Trax Records compilation, with different names : House Allucinates - Pump Up London ; House Allucinates - Pump Up Europe (different cover sleeve); House Allucinates - Pump Up The World & We Call It Allucinates on Westside Records.
