You can not make money with the underground music. Me, I love these compilations!!

mmmh...i am a die-hard house head. i love virgo 4 and chicago-style house music. i am also a dj. i am also an amateur producer.i am also black.that being said, i am not 100% with this comment. here is why: house music producers and remixers and most underground dance record labels do not make a fortune, certainly not in the way mainstream labels like, universal, arista, columbia, etc. make money.if, this pressing is an insult, it can only be from a financial standpoint because samples are swiped ALL THE TIME without permission. that being said, i doubt sales of this particularpressing will be more than 3000 euro. this is nothing. 500 records pressed, at 10 euro is around 5gs...shipment, distribution,ad infinitum, the re.editors and remixers aren't going to see much money at all.on the other hand, folks who love this music, may perhaps purchase it, and then look for the originals on the originallabels...if they do not look for the originals, then they will certainly look for different tracks by the artists on this compilation,so the original artists are not losing out completely. moreover, ultimately their music is getting spread out, and reaching earsthat may have otherwise not heard them. these trax WERE on the original trax label, so it is not disrespectful to say thatthis release consists of, DUH?!? TRAX re-edited. the title of this release is actually paying homage(respect) to the original label on which the original trackswere originally released.i believe, in this instance, this is a case of true house lovers wanting to spread the love within this music. which is a lot better than swiping samples fromthe original tracks and calling it their own on some obscure label, which is here definitely not the case. chill out! the artists are getting RECOGNIZED. it is music, and music needs to be spread.i would be with this argument if the editors stood to make even a small fortune. they simply don't.

Seems like you have no idea of the industry to me. There is no money in small releases such as this, if there's any money in ANY music releases anymore, so it doesn't matter a fuck whether the original artists get a cut, because a cut from this would literally be small change. Larry Sherman fucked over the Trax artists over 20 years ago. Countless artists have been fucked by countless record labels over the years, and that's just the way it is. Artists generally aren't very business savvy, and they get taken advantage of as a result. Whatever about the quality of a lot of these re-edits/remixes, the releases are not completely pointless, or even sinful like the so-called purists (aka anal,negative, narrow minded and over opinionated bores) were dribbling on about. They will most certainly put some younger heads onto the old Chicago producers and therefore must be a good thing to some extent.

there is no way in the subculture of our line of house music, that the label is "CASHING" in. there is simply no way. you failed also to define cashing in. i gave a pretty liberal number in my response, which split among the label and re.editors is chump change. that means, the folks involved are indeed doing it for the love of the music. when, in recent times has house music provided a decent living for those who dj and produce it? i am not talking about knuckles, i am talking about the folks in today's world who hold down 1 or more jobs in ADDITION to djing and producing AND running labels? doubt me? mike grant, label owner of Moods&Grooves serves in the U.S. army to finance his living because running a label (SUCCESSFUL one at that) STILL does not pay enough to cover bills. don't give me this cashing in b.s., i know the industry and is only for a select few lucrative. V4, frankie and jamie are well known and have been well paid, V4to a lesser extent until recently, but do not tell me this projects purpose was to cash in on frankie V4 etc...that is just asinine and sounds someone trying to overcompensate simply because you serve on the money end of things. EVERYONE here has been honored by having their names spelled out and the label, and as i said i cannot tell you how many originals i found because a remix (bootleg or not) came out and got me educated. so releases like these do serve a purpose.and ALSO like i said how many GD samples are lifted?!?!? our music is BASED on sampling as is many others. and these are not even samples, they are re.edits and re.works. this is not as i said some obscure label trying to put a few quid in the back pockets covering up the real talent and marketing it as their own?!? i cannot think of a better way to honor the original artists.particularly those on this release. u need to strike against a lot of music for your argument to hold any weight. a lot. there is a difference between cashing in on music that is not yours, and and educating...as i said, when sales of this record tip 10.000 euro, no forget that 5.000 then i will hear what you got to say.

Ultimately the label is cashing in and their behaviour is inexcusable. I have been part of official re-releases and correctly followed the process. Using an excuse such as "the music is being passed on by and for music lovers" is a poor and a half - arsed reason to put a few quid in the back pocket which brings the legitimate industry in to disrepute and stops artists from being funded in what is an extrememly difficult market place. From your comment, I assume you either work for the Harmless or have not odea about the industry. Maybe both.

This compilation is no better than a bootleg. Many of of the artists have never received a cent in royalties. This compilation is an insult - to have their work re-edited without their knowledge stinks. Same old story - black musicians being ripped off by charlatans. Anyone who has involved themselves in this project to further their own means should hang their heads in shame from Cassablanca Trax downwards. Anyone who cares about the originators of House and their enduring legacy get on board because the righteous and legal fightback is about to begin.

i had no idea this was the case .... and they can even named the release after the label trax.
