I guess, some participants here weren´t aware that they potentially supported something being rather tasteless, cheap propaganda. Propaganda, of which the curator himself is either just as ignorant, or simply chooses to portray sensitive subject matter as "art"...Some of the song titles are so obviously of questionable morale - "Past ce bomba na Beograd" (literally meaning "A bomb will fall on Belgrade") is utterly tasteless a title, including the compilation title itself. "Za Dom spremni" has its roots in the famous Croatian opera "Nikola Subic Zrinski", composed by the noble Ivan Zajc, but is far more notorious - and therefore, here more directly referring to - Croatian nazi-supporters from the 1941-1945 era, who adopted this as their official salute (and it is exactly in this context that the salute sadly survived to the present day, being equally (ab)used by certain public circles that lean towards, or literally are, the right-wing) - a salute in the shadow of which, lots of innocent people were bestially murdered during WWII. Personally, I will never understand the urge by someone to make "artistic" statements like this one. The inevitable question is - what is the purpose? Does it tend to be a critique at war´s atrocities and social injustice? Is it telling "the truth"? If so, what is "the truth" that it´s trying to tell? To me this is nothing more but thin ice that cracks in the very wrong way, far from the objective view... the contents seem to relativize on the subject matter in order to show only one side of things being more "humane", the side of things that were very wrong and at fault.
I bet that many of the appearances here are very deliberate. Selection was made in 2001 rather than in 1991 with no internet and means to do a proper research. That flirting with Nazi Scum shit is rather disgusting when in the name of the art.
