i suppose the quiet parts at the end of side one (the train excursions) coulda been boosted a bit volumewise to drown out the surface noise, but i don't see "remastered" listed on the hype sticker. don't mind owning this "infamous-for-being-sh+++y" press, bought it for exactly that reason. sounds pretty good, considering the whole album is crammed onto a single disc. no complaints. mind you, what you're playing it on is gonna make tons of difference. absolutely brutally bonkers album.

my copy is great not sure what you got if you didnt think so

I know lots of people like to poopoo on this pressing, but it sounds fine to me. It's pretty easy to fit 35 minutes onto a single side when huge chunks of it are quiet to near-silent. The original mastering engineers thought so, too.

It is bad, very bad. Buy the MOV release instead!

35 minutes on side one38 minutes on side twoWhat genius at Plain approved this?Good luck even trying to tape it. If you got it, try taping it. Look at your VU Meters.

DO NOT buy this pressing from Plain Recordings... Just as other users have said, an amazing album but the sound is just terrible. Huge let down... Unluckily, I blindly bought their 3 releases under this pressing, and the 3 are just as bad, no wonder they were cheap. If you just want to have an object that spins... Buy this. But if you are here for the music, stay with the CD's or older pressings!

Even the cover looks like it was done cheaply...

worst pressing that has come to my hands in a really long time.this sucks big time. avoid. spend your money on something else…

RyansGoldenRecords No: the 1st european pressing got the exact same amount of music( and lighter vinyl; 130g) Even if the European pressing is not perfect; Plain reissue don't stand comparison ; REALLY

Another poor pressing by Plain Recordings. I'm not sure what the hell they're up to but they're not up to the task of creating quality reissues of classic albums, that is "Plain". The terrible sound can only be attributed to a poor lacquer cut or another in a long list of poor pressings commisioned by Plain. The only positive to take from this is that the die hard fans will finally have a vinyl copy in their hands in the absence of the original picture disc (yes the picture disc even sounds better than this rubbish) and the far superior European original pressing on London Records. Avoid unless you are particularly desperate.

It can also be attributed to the fact that they had to squeeze over 35 minutes of music onto each side.
